VETERAN-DIRECTED CARE

Enabling Veterans to direct their own long-term care services.

🇺🇸 Veteran-Directed Care (VDC)

Empowering Veterans to take charge of their care.

The Veteran-Directed Care (VDC) Program gives Veterans the freedom and flexibility to shape their own long-term care. Instead of being placed in a nursing home, Veterans receive a personal care budget that allows them to purchase the goods and services they need to remain safe, independent, and supported at home and in their community.

With VDC, Veterans can hire, train, and supervise their own caregivers, giving them greater control over their daily lives and ensuring their care reflects their personal preferences.

💡 How AIHS Supports Veterans

Through an AIHS Options Counselor, Veterans receive:

  • A personalized assessment and care plan.

  • Guidance in arranging fiscal management services.

  • Ongoing counseling and support for Veterans, their families, and caregivers.

⭐ Key Features of VDC

  • Veteran-Directed – You decide what services you need and who provides them.

  • Personal Care Budget – Manage and spend funds on services that support your independence.

  • Home & Community Focused – Receive care in the comfort of your home, not a nursing facility.

  • Family Caregiver Support – Resources and training to help caregivers succeed.

  • Dedicated Guidance – An AIHS Options Counselor walks alongside you at every step.

✨ The Veteran-Directed Care Program is more than just a benefit—it’s a way to honor service with choice, dignity, and independence.
